Jessica Renner, Director of Operations at the Children’s Hospital Colorado Health Pavilion, has been recognized among the Denver Business Journal's 40 Under 40. Each year, the publication honors 40 young professionals across multiple industries for providing extraordinary business and community leadership.

Operations leader drives innovation and equitable access to pediatric care

“Jessica exemplifies what it means to be a dynamic, strategic and compassionate leader,” says Suzy Jaeger, Senior Vice President and Chief Patient Experience and Access Officer at Children’s Colorado. “Her unwavering dedication to equitable healthcare access, operational innovation and the mission of Children's Colorado drives every achievement in her career.”

Since joining Children's Colorado, Renner has successfully led diverse teams and initiatives across the hospital, including high-volume outpatient primary care services and specialized surgical programs. Her ability to unite interdisciplinary teams, align them around shared goals and drive measurable outcomes has strengthened operational performance and elevated standards of care across the organization.

Key accomplishments in primary care, dental services and public health

Renner has achieved remarkable milestones over the past year, leading large-scale improvement projects and innovative initiatives across primary care and dental clinics. She launched Children's Colorado's first walk-in flu clinic, providing families with easier access to vaccines and enhancing the hospital’s approach to whole-child health. She also spearheaded revenue cycle optimizations, streamlined financial workflows and increased price transparency for patients who live in underserved communities and are in need of dental care.

When a clinic was temporarily closed, Renner ensured continuity of care by identifying urgent patient needs, coordinating medication provision and reopening the clinic under tight deadlines — all while maintaining team morale and managing complex logistics. Her work developing templates and managing scheduling across multiple departments has increased clinic capacity, allowing more children to receive timely care.

Renner also collaborated with the Children's Colorado Government Affairs team on public health initiatives to support efforts in vaccine advocacy and continue the use of fluoride in drinking water.

She holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and has received the Institute for Healthcare Quality Safety and Efficacy (IHQSE) Award.

Championing Medicaid access and primary care equity

Renner's influence extends far beyond the walls of Children's Colorado. A passionate advocate for pediatric public health, she has championed Medicaid access and primary care equity across Colorado, helping ensure that children from underserved communities have access to essential healthcare services.

She consistently champions transformative initiatives that remove barriers to care for children, particularly those served by Medicaid and public health programs. Through these efforts, Renner has implemented innovative projects that make care more sustainable, accessible and impactful.
