Medical Technologist II POC

Summary 

Supports Point of Care testing for the Anschutz campus and system of care sites; participates in laboratory quality assurance activities with knowledge of regulatory requirements. 

 

Shift

Point of Care Testing

4 10-hour shifts

7:00 a.m - 5:30 p.m.

Rotating working hours and on call for weekends and holidays

Hours posted are subject to change based upon department needs; position is based out of our Anschutz campus but travel within the day to all CHCO sites, including sites in Colorado Springs, is required



Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of current laboratory regulations and quality indicators and participates in accreditation readiness and laboratory inspections.
  • Evaluates quality assurance activities such as maintenance, reagent storage and quality control review and partnering with POC testing locations to ensure compliance and support with documentation.
  • Participates in proficiency testing distribution for testing for Point of Care testing locations.
  • Performs validations, verifications and implementation of new assays and devices as assigned.
  • Review and edits department standard procedures and ensuring accuracy and compliance according to best practices
  • Ensures quality control is acceptable and point of care devices are functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits and documentation is completed.
  • Consciously works to identify errors and takes responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner.
  • Performs point of care laboratory functions according to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by regulatory agencies.
  • Assists operators in troubleshooting point of care devices when requested or when results are questionable.
  • Evaluates and/or reports point of care results for clinical significance and validity, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up.
  • Supports POC operations at system of care sites.
  • Trains and assesses the competency of testing operators and site trainers according to standard procedures and documents training per protocols.
  • Supports new POC lab employees and students according to standard operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • Bachelor of Science
  • Area of Study
    • in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Experience
    • Minimum Experience. Required: Two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Equivalency

    • Medical Laboratory Scientist

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAP and CLIA regulations, proficiency testing review, standard operating procedure writing and review, departmental audits, participation in regulatory inspections.
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to working collaboratively within the department and with our clinical partners


Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $34.45 to $51.67
