Advancing fetal care

At the Colorado Fetal Care Center, we’re committed to partnering with providers to improve care for moms and babies and moving the field of fetal care forward.

Referring to the Colorado Fetal Care Center

When you refer a patient to Children’s Hospital Colorado’s maternal fetal medicine specialists, you’re doing more than connecting them with one of the best fetal care teams in the country — you’re starting a partnership to get the best outcome for your patient and their family.

We’ll create an individualized care plan that meets your patients’ needs and makes their family and you feel confident in their care.

How to refer a patient to the Colorado Fetal Care Center

Our coordinators or the on-call physician are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for referrals, transfers or consultations. You can refer a patient to our fetal care experts by filling out and faxing the referral form below. We are also available for any questions via phone.

What to expect when you refer a patient to the Colorado Fetal Care Center

We believe in collaborating with you to find the best care for your patient. Once you refer a patient to our fetal care team, we’ll start with an initial meeting with the family where we review:

  • The patient's diagnosis
  • Our recommended treatment approach
  • Labor and delivery plans
  • Directions for continuing care (usually provided by you)

We invite you to attend this meeting but if you are unable to attend in person, we can arrange a teleconference so you are involved in every step.

Following every consultation at the Colorado Fetal Care Center, we send a comprehensive summary of our findings. We also plan a follow-up phone call to answer any questions you may have and to ensure you have all the documents you need, including follow-up care notes.

Because we believe in collaboration and want to maintain continuity of care, we provide you with all the resources you need to provide care where you are. In most cases, you will continue to care for your patient during pregnancy in partnership with our fetal care specialists.
