About the Growth and Medical Nutrition Clinic at Children’s Hospital Colorado

Our Growth and Medical Nutrition Clinic evaluates and treats infants, children and adolescents with growth, feeding and nutrition concerns. This includes poor weight gain, feeding difficulties, restricted diets, tube feeding needs and vitamin or nutrient deficiencies. We are here to help your child thrive and grow through personalized, medically managed nutrition care.

In our clinic, nutrition-trained medical providers perform a comprehensive medical and nutrition assessment and listen carefully to your concerns. Depending on your child’s needs, we may focus on improving eating habits, assessing vitamin and nutrient deficiencies, evaluating underlying medical conditions and developing a personalized nutrition plan.

Our medical providers and registered dietitians work closely together as a team. We also collaborate with feeding therapists and other pediatric specialists when additional evaluation or support is needed.

What to expect at your visit to the Growth and Medical Nutrition Clinic

The Growth and Medical Nutrition Clinic is located in the Outpatient Pavilion on the first floor at the Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora. Please arrive at the clinic early so you can check in at the front desk.

Before your first visit

• Keep track of what your child eats and drinks: Record everything your child eats and drinks for 3 days. Be as specific as possible with the amount eaten.
• Send medical records and growth charts: Ask your clinic or medical provider to fax a copy of your child’s medical records (growth chart, relevant letters and recent labs) directly to the clinic at 720-777-7282.

During your visit

During your child’s appointment you can expect the following:

• A physical exam
• A medical evaluation
• Review diet history
• Additional labs or testing depending on needs

At your first visit with our nutrition-trained medical provider, we would love to meet the family members responsible for your child’s care if possible. Plan to spend at least one hour at that first visit. If blood work is ordered, the visit may take longer to allow time for a laboratory visit after the appointment.

Afterwards, we’ll help you schedule a follow up visit with a registered dietician, typically a month later.
